We are pleased to offer the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting qualification. This qualification is ideal for those of you looking to start a career in bookkeeping or accountancy.  You may be working in a finance role already, or looking to change career.  This qualification is open to all and there are no pre-requisites for studying this course.

The Foundation Certificate in Accounting will provide you with the underpinning manual bookkeeping knowledge and skills required to work in bookkeeping, finance and accountancy roles.  It will also introduce you to management accounting, in the form of basic costing, offering you a wider spectrum of knowledge than the Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping alone.  It will also offer a progression route to further AAT bookkeeping and accounting qualifications. The course is comprised of five mandatory modules:

  • Bookkeeping Transactions
  • Bookkeeping Controls
  • Elements of Costing
  • Using Accounting Software
  • Work Effectively in Finance

This qualification will help you develop your practical accountancy skills in the double-entry bookkeeping system and introduce you to some basic costing skills.  It also looks at different types of communication and business skills.  This qualification could lead to the following job roles: Accounts administrator; accounts assistant; accounts payable clerk; purchase/sales ledger clerk; trainee accounting technician; trainee finance assistant.
