We have 2 exciting opportunities for someone wishing to take their first step on the ladder to a career in administration whilst obtaining a level 3 qualification in Business Admin in a friendly and supportive environment.

You will be given a thorough induction and provided with a learning plan so you can see your progress and development and know what is expected.
You will have exposure to a range of service areas whilst undertaking the role, for example Finance through to Housing. This will give you a real insight into how the Council works and offer you the chance to find your niche. After the Apprenticeship you will be encouraged to apply for permeant roles which will also include career development opportunities.
You’ll be assisting with the billing and collection of monies owed to the Council via Council tax, Housing Benefit overpayments, Sundry Debts and Business Rates. You’ll have plenty of customer contact and access to sensitive information to help solve customer queries so being able to communicate confidently and maintain confidentiality is essential.
You’ll need accuracy and an eye for detail particularly when working to tight deadlines, GCSE’s (or equivalent) C+/5 or above in Maths and English and a minimum of 2 A-Levels Grade C and above. You’ll also need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for learning on the job and commitment to studying for a qualification.
This is a great opportunity and will offer a wealth of transferable skills for someone including, Customer Service, Finance, Admin, Communication and Teamwork.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 37.5 Hours Per Week, Shifts TBC.
Salary
£9.27 per hour
Skills
The ideal candidate would have the following skills:
- good level of computer literacy (particularly experience of MS Excel, Word, Internet, social media and email).
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Able to prioritise and work to deadlines
Training

Desired qualifications
To be eligible you need to qualify for National Apprenticeship funding and have minimum grade “C/4 “ in English and Maths and a minimum of 2 A Levels Grade C and above.
Future prospects
Previous apprentices have secured permanent employment after completing their apprenticeship, if not in Revenues elsewhere within the Council where opportunities have been available.
By the end of the apprenticeship you’ll be a confident business administrator with a background in council tax and other forms of legislation. You may be able to continue your career in this field, or otherwise the skills you learn will be transferable within other areas of the Council or to other employers.
Things to consider
- May come across difficult customers on occasions
- You will as you progress through the apprenticeship and develop knowledge be involved in complex legislative decision making.
