Increasing Confidence and Efficiency

Aid Call now trades as Age UK further to the merger of Age Concern and Help the Aged. The Ashburton Centre incorporates Sales, Customer Service, Response, Customer Support and Field Sales with their main market being personal alarms for people in their own homes.

Working closely with Jenny Pickvance – Customer Operations Manager, Age UK Ashburton have engaged 110 learners on Apprenticeships and NVQs since 2001, covering Customer Services, Business Administration, ITQ, Team Leading and Management. Success rates are high with the majority of learners achieving full Apprenticeships.

Learners engaged have been funded through Apprenticeship, Train to Gain and European Social Funding. Age UK have fully supported learners internally with their NVQS, and allowing day release to complete external elements such as Key Skills, Technical Certificates, ILM and ECDL.

The NVQ training has had a huge impact encouraging the personal development of individuals, increasing confidence, efficiency and understanding of their role for many who may otherwise not have thought they would be capable of gaining a qualification. The benefits to the business are immeasurable; we have knowledgeable, motivated and happy staff, our staff retention is excellent. The confidence gaining NVQ qualifications gives to individuals and the value it adds to any business should never be underestimated.

Aid Call was awarded ETS’s ‘Medium sized Employer of the Year’ for 2008 further to nomination from their own staff.
