Learning and Development Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard:

Level: 3

Functional Skills: Functional Skills in English and Maths

On programme duration: Minimum of 18 Months

Overview  This program is for any sector where the individual is involved with identifying learning and training needs, designing training and learning solutions, delivering and evaluating training and working with others. This is aimed more at non-management roles, progressing naturally into a Level 5 L&D qualification/apprenticeship.

What will my learning look like?

Knowledge: 7 Knowledge workshops and 7 corresponding workbooks/assignments to cover teaching and learning theories and approaches, delivery channels, how to measure learning, diversity and inclusion, sector structure, L&D roles and management of information and technology

Skills (not an exhaustive list): analysing learning needs, consulting with learners, dealing with complex situations, designing training and learning resources, delivering effective training, monitoring learners progress, evaluating impact of learning solutions, analysing learner feedback, communicating through a range of media, handling conflict and building relationships with learners and colleagues.

Behaviours (not an exhaustive list): Enthusiasm for learning, engaging others, demonstrating integrity and resilience, demonstrating flexibility and creativity.

The apprentice and the employer will need to gather evidence for 20% off-the-job training using a variety of methods including; coaching, mentoring, knowledge workshops, one to one’s, research, on-line learning, role pay, shadowing, industry visits/ conferences, writing assessments/assignment, practical training and preparing for professional discussion.

End point Assessment:

  • Work Based Project with Professional Discussion: Project report to be completed after Gateway, 2250-word count. Includes delivery or 2 – 7 hours. Discussion will last 60 minutes and will consist of 8-10 questions.
  • Presentation and Q&A based on Learning Journal: Learning Journal to be kept from the beginning of the apprenticeship and submitted at Gateway. Presentation is 20 minutes and cover three examples from the Learning Journal that cover the required KSB’s. Q&A will last 25 minutes immediately after the presentation and will consist of 3-5 questions.
